BCM Going "Behind the Scenes"... sort of
Hello! Hope you are all enjoying your holidays. It is with some excitement about new things to come, I'd like to announce a change to many of the services offered by Black Cove Media previously. It has become clear over the past couple of years that in order to achieve personal and organizational goals, I would need to steer Black Cove Media in a slightly different direction and maintain focus on areas that both play to the natural strengths and interests of BCM.
While we have enjoyed many aspects of small business website development, especially getting to know clients and their businesses, our efforts have been spread too thin to achieve the certain key goals and also to maintain some level of balance. I personally have worn many hats with BCM as acting lead developer, designer, accountant, marketer, salesperson, and the variety of others since I left the financial world to run this business full-time. I have learned an amazing amount about business, about web development, and arguably equally as important, about myself.
Through this experience, I've been able to identify a number of long and short-term goals for myself and for the company. I, for example, recently became a Zend Certified Engineer in PHP 5.3. While I love to create nice designs that are visually pleasing and stimulating and while I have really enjoyed the client interaction of working through site features, I've found that I really am best suited for a programmer-centric role, and as such am steering the business focus at Black Cove Media in direction that better aligns with the present talents of the company.
With that in mind, the following is a list of what's to come from Black Cove Media:
- Extensive server-side development offerings, including third party application and web service integration
- Module & theme development, especially on Magento, Prestashop and Drupal platforms
- Theme design and development for sale "as is" online... more detail to come
- Expansion into support and maintenance agreements
Well, I think that's it for now. Have a wonderful Spring and please get in touch if you think we might be a good fit for supporting a current or future need.
